GosgortechnadzorGosgortechnadzor(GGTN) is the Federal Mining and Industrial Safety Supervisory Authority of Russia, and is responsible for the issue of Permits and Licensesfor a broad range of machinery and equipment. As a separate entity to Gosstandart, GGTN requires product types that fall under its jurisdiction to undergo a further certification process. All potentially hazardous machinery and equipment, such as pressure vessels, boilers, burners, lifts and cranes is subject to GGTN approval, even if GOST-R Certificateis already obtained.In addition, any machinery to be used in hazardous or potentially explosive environments, such as oil or gas fields, refineries or chemical plants, also requires a separate GGTN permit. This applies even where the equipment itself would not normally require GOST-R approval. TheGGTNis a very powerful organization, with regional offices and inspectors all over Russia. No project in the industries under its supervision can be commissioned without its involvement and approval. no other entity within or outside Russia is authorized to issue the relevant permits.
