What is GOST R
certification?

GOST is the Russian word for "norm", and R stands for Russia. For most products,

certification is needed if you wish to sell them in Russia. The main products concerned

are materials in contact with food and human beings; industrial equipment for food, chemical, oil & gas, construction and

other industries; mechanical and electrical goods. Also concerned are consumer products such as foodstuffs, textiles and

clothes, cosmetics and perfumery, domestic goods and toys. The certificate can be valid for a one-time-only shipment or

For certain products and equipment, a Fire Safety Certificate is obligatory. A complete list of these products has been

Who issues the Fire Safety Certificate?

It is issued by Certification Bodies, which are accredited by Gospozhnadzor (part

of the Russian Ministry for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Natural Disasters).

What are the different types of Fire Safety Certificate?

• Certificate for Serial Production, which requires: a set of certain documents;

audit of manufacturer; inspection every year; sampling. Maximum validity of

certificate is 3 years

• Certificate for Shipment, which requires: a set of certain documents (including a

copy of contract and invoice for delivery); sampling. This kind of certificate

concerns a limited quantity of items. Duration of validity depends on the terms of
